Blenders are an invaluable tool in the kitchen, allowing you to prepare a variety of meals without the hassle. However, like any appliance, they can develop problems over time. Here are some common issues with commercial blenders and how you can troubleshoot them.
Blades not dicing properly
If your blender's blades aren't chopping up food correctly, it could be due to a faulty nut that secures the blades on top. This nut should be tightened counterclockwise to ensure that the blades are securely held in place.
Leaks from the bottom of your blender jar
If you're blending liquids, make sure the bottom of the blender jar isn't leaking and the sealing ring at the top is in place to keep the contents from spilling out. If it is, your jar could be broken and the lid should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
Burnt or electrical smell from your motor
A burned smell is a warning sign that something is wrong with your blender's motor. There are several parts that can cause this symptom, including the motor itself, the couplers (also known as couplings), seals, and brushes.
Changing the blades
If your blades aren't chopping your ingredients, it may be time to change them out. This can be done by carefully disassembling your blender, removing the blades, and cleaning them.
Blades won't spin
If you can't get your blades to turn, they might be stuck or preventing the motor from spinning. This can happen if you accidentally put the blades back on incorrectly, or if they're not making proper contact with the motor.
